NOVE/DEC 2009
The Portsmouth Grammar School have kindly given me studio space for an artist in residence project run by the art department. When I proposed a portrait of a well known person within the school Garry Whitehead (Head of Art) immediatley suggested Tony the School marshal. The idea was put to other members of staff, and turned out to be a very popular choice. So with the go ahead from Tony, a sitting was arranged from which I have created a charcoal drawing in preparation for an oil on canvas.
The students are free to come and go as I progress through the project, witnessing the processes involved in the creation of Tony's portrait.
