EDGBASTON HOUSE
Next up we have Nan's protégé Josie and David - "I look like a villian". Job done.
The idea is I draw people. So Sonia and Tina get the treatment. I told Sonia "straight face please, no laughing". So she smirked.
Tina did not move for one hour. "Would you like a rest Tina?" She said she was fine so I kept going. "Are you sure?" I'm an alter girl, I'm used to it. Fair enough.

SOMERSTOWN CENTRAL HUB
As you can imagine painting 50 people is going to take a while, but I’ve got to start somewhere. The emergence of Somerstown Central Hub last year, a building I have walk by and ran under a few times made me curious as to it’s function. So I hooked up with community officers, Kate and Jo from the council and pitched my project to them. For about a month, I have attended coffee mornings and residents meetings as a kind of artist in residence just chatting, having a giggle - not drawing or creating any art - but mainly being educated about the people in a part of the city I knew very little about, even though I have lived in Portsmouth most of my life. As I chat and listen pictures spring in to my head.
This part of the project based in Somerstown will consist of five oil portraits, the first of which will be this lady. I won’t reveal her name yet as she is a bit shy and is yet to see this charcoal study. She took some convincing over several days to be photographed as she was damn well was not going to sit still. She is a strong contender for my poster girl.
